Radio Networks
TETRA
TETRA is a standard specified by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) in response to the need for a common digital trunked standard for Professional Mobile Radio (PMR). Main TETRA features are:
• digital voice quality
• fast emergency call set-up
• comprehensive support to group and individual voice and data communications
• communications are possible in areas that are out of coverage with direct mode of operation (DMO)
• multiple security schemes and algorithms (two encryption levels)
• data transmission at up to 28.8Kbps and simultaneous with voice
• standard interfaces for data terminal connections (PEI) and TETRA networks interconnection (ISI)
Trunked radio access, digital system and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) make TETRA the leading standard for PMR, allowing TETRA solutions to meet the specific needs of mission-critical use, especially in situations of high traffic.
The SELEX Communications TETRA System consists of a control room, network infrastructure, a rapid deployment outdoor system and peripheral equipment (mobile units, fixed stations, hand portables).
SELEX Communications have supplied more than 60 TETRA Systems in over 25 countries.
SIMULCAST
SIMULCAST is a technology tailored for radio coverage of wide areas, particularly suitable in case of low availability of radio frequencies. ECOS (Extended Communication Systems) are radio communication systems working on the SIMULCAST technology and are available with both analogue (ECOS-A) and digital (ECOS-D) modulation.
A complete PMR system consists of one or more ECOS macro-cells (ECOS simulcast networks), connected to control centres for the implementation of different services; mobile and portable terminals are provided to the users for the basic radio communications and for enhanced services based on data transmission.
ECOS systems provide high quality communications, either for voice and data transmission and the architecture is suitable for large networks. ECOS networks have a flexible structure that is open to different network configurations, assuring automatic hand-over and roaming and even allowing redundant radio coverage of critical areas. ECOS Radio Base Stations are also equipped with devices for the remote control of the most important working parameters.
The Control Centre is installed to provide value added services, like radio traffic management, GPS localisation of terminals, interface with other Information Systems, radio-telephone-informatics integration and high levels of interoperability between simulcast macro-cells and other radio networks. For each ECOS radio network a Network Management System allows a Radio Base Station to be managed from the Remote Control Station, either directly linked to the radio network or from remote (via PSTN/ISDN).

Information Assurance
Penetration Testing
A Penetration Test is a controlled network attack simulation that provides a snapshot of an organisation's security posture. Our team of security experts who perform the tests follow a robust testing methodology, use tools that carry the most up-to-date vulnerability research available, and possess creative instincts to manipulate the tools in both typical and unconventional ways in order to identify and document exposures that could be used by a malicious individual to infiltrate an organisation's network.
IT Security Policy
Our team of consultants has extensive experience of developing Security Policy for the public and private sector.
Digital Forensics
SELEX Communications forensic investigators employ proven techniques to acquire, analyse, validate and present evidence for our corporate, government and law enforcement clients.
Network Forensics
Our Network Forensics solution will help your organisation secure its network by capturing real-time network data to identify how your business assets are affected by network exploits, internal data theft and security or HR policy violations.
